Welcome in.
Hi, I’m Chase. I’m a filmmaker and photographer, and I’ve been a student of Vajrayana Buddhism for about twenty years. For most of that time I thought my addictions were getting in the way of the path. Lately I’ve been learning to bring them onto it.
Super Lotus is where I share what I’m finding along the way.
The name started as a joke I couldn’t shake. If addiction is ordinary samsara turned all the way up, super samsara, then maybe it also makes the machinery easier to see. And whatever you can see, you can work with. Lotuses grow out of mud. Some of us just have more mud.
Most of what you’ll find here follows one question. Instead of asking “why don’t you stop?” I’ve started asking “what is this doing for me?” There is wisdom in the reaching. When the substance is gone, the need is still there, and Deep Recovery is the slow work of meeting that need for real.
Three threads run through everything:
Folk Dharma. The wisdom we pass between each other as peers on the path, with or without anyone’s stamp of approval.
Deep Recovery. The Five Elements, cravings as signals, and what I’m learning from my own.
Creative Culture. Films, playlists, and whatever art is moving me right now.
I’m just a host here, sharing as a peer. Take your shoes off, look around, and keep whatever’s useful.
